Yesterday while driving home from Worcester I found myself filled with anger at Barack Obama for destroying the Democratic Party, miring us all in another pointless war, and setting back any chance of progressive change in this country for decades. I regretted my vote for him in 2008 and even thought we'd surely be better off with John McCain as president.
This morning the kitchen phone rang. I ignored it; anyone who knows me knows to call on my cell phone. Then it rang again almost immediately. I grabbed it, thinking it might be my housemate or her daughter, but it was a robot from the Republican National Committee asking who I would choose for president if the election were held today. It offered as choices Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, or Barack Obama, in that order.
Without even a moment's hesitation, I chose Obama.
