Well, the Holy Roman Empire was neither holy nor Roman nor an empire, and as for the DRPK, it isn't democratic, doesn't belong to its people, and isn't a republic (it's a hereditary monarchy).
Yesterday I stumbled upon a blog describing a journey to the DPRK by rail from Vienna via Moscow and the Trans-Siberian Railway.
I'm impressed by how well the Russians seem to run their railway system. Even in 1975 under the Soviets it was pretty well run.
