Adventures in plug computing
The SheevaPlug is a miniature computer the size of a "wall wart" power supply. It can do almost anything a "real" computer can do, and on 7 watts of power. When a client asked me the other day to come up with a way to monitor a transmitter site via a Web site, I took a SheeevaPlug, put an Apache Web server on it, added a Perl script to talk to the relevant piece of equipment, and shipped it to the client.
I'm running my personal mail server and Web server on a SheevaPlug. I should be able to get one to stream audio, too, if the need should arise, although I'll need a USB audio interface.
