I'm not much of a sports fan. In fifty years no one will remember who won the World Series or the Super Bowl in 2012. The business of sports is obnoxious and its corrosive effect on American colleges and universities is nothing short of scandalous. In the world as I would reshape it, sports would be played by amateurs, admission would be cheap, and no city or state could be blackmailed into spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a giant stadium filled with luxury boxes for Wall Street fat cats.
That said, there is one football game a year that I follow, and I always listen to it on my old college radio station. That game was played today, and I'm pleased to report that our side won.
