necturus | Not so many frogs here tonight

I just went down the hill to visit the swamp. As I stoood in the deepening twilight, I could hear three or four pickerel frogs snoring at one another across the water, but only the occasional peep of a spring peeper. Last year there were a lot more of them.

I also saw only one bat. Has white nose syndrome come to my neighborhood? Last year there were a half dozen or more, swooping and cartwheeling around in the air above the marsh.

But yesterday I got to hear toads trilling in Malden. Go toads!
